Newsrooms don't stand still, and neither does the software behind them. This year's Reuters Institute Digital News Report found that, for the first time, social media and video consumption has overtaken other news sources as the most widely used way people get their news globally. Audiences are moving faster, across more platforms than ever before, and editorial teams need to be able to move with them. Over the course of 2026, we've released a series of updates aimed at one goal: giving editorial teams less friction and more control.

What We've Released in 2026

API 2.0

We launched a rebuilt version of our API, the connection point developers use to link Kordiam with your other systems. It's built to be clearer and more reliable, and it works well with the AI tools many teams are starting to use alongside their day-to-day systems. If you're not using the API directly, this mostly happens behind the scenes, but it means anything connected to Kordiam going forward will be steadier and easier to maintain. Read more →

Story Templates

With Story Templates, editors gained the ability to set up ready-made story forms for specific types of stories. This is great for sports match reports, election coverage, the weekend interview feature or an ongoing investigative series. The Story Templates provide editorial teams with the right fields, defaults and to-dos already in place. Reporters just pick the right template and get straight to writing, while the information stays consistent across desks and teams.

New Inbox Page

The Inbox Page got a refresh this year, rebuilt on our new front-end framework with a cleaner, more modern look. The updated page keeps the workflows your team already relies on and presents them more clearly.

Webhooks Page

Behind the scenes, admins now have a simpler way to manage how content and updates flow out of Kordiam and into other systems. The new Webhooks Page brings that configuration into one place, making it easier to see what's connected and adjust it when something changes, or lean on support to make a change.

Task Chip with Image Preview

It's a small change, but one that adds up over the course of a busy day. Task chips in the Story List now carry a quick image preview, so an editor scanning through a list of stories can see what's already in progress, and what still needs a photo, without opening each one individually.

Task Content Widget

Contributors and external freelancers now have a dedicated place to submit their work. The new Task Content Widget lets task assignees enter text or upload files directly and it opens straight on its Content tab from My Schedule or a notification email. A second tab brings together everything freelancers need to know about the task, so the brief and the submission live in one place.

Looking Ahead

2026 has been a year of steady, practical improvements to how newsroom teams plan, coordinate and publish — and the pace of change in how audiences find news isn't slowing down. We'll keep sharing updates as they roll out. In the meantime, you can find the full technical changelog in our release notes.
