How Mediengruppe Pressedruck Uses Kordiam to Align Regional Teams
When your newsroom spans multiple cities, staying in sync becomes a full-time job. For Mediengruppe Pressedruck, that used to mean spreadsheets, calendars and constant follow-ups. Now, Kordiam gives them one shared space for editorial coordination, streamlining planning and minimizing back-and-forth.
We spoke with Alexander Sing Topic Manager at Mediengruppe Pressedruck about how Kordiam supports cross-location collaboration and helps scale workflows across a growing network of regional publications.
“Kordiam helps us plan and coordinate content across all of our editorial teams. It provides a concise overview, minimizing the need for questions and emails.”
– Alexander Sing, Topic Manager, Mediengruppe Pressedruck
Q&A with Alexander Sing
Kordiam: In one sentence, how would you describe Kordiam to another newsroom?
Alexander: Kordiam is a tool that helps us plan and coordinate content across different editorial teams and locations. As a regional newspaper with many offices, having a clear overview is essential. It reduces unnecessary communication and keeps everyone aligned.
Kordiam: What would you say to another media organization thinking about using Kordiam?
Alexander: I’d recommend it. Kordiam is intuitive, even for colleagues who aren’t especially tech-savvy, and offers exciting integration opportunities with CMS tools. But to unlock its full potential, you need to use it properly. That’s something we’re still working on internally.
Kordiam: How has Kordiam improved your editorial workflow compared to your old tools and processes?
Alexander: We rely less on chat, email or phone. It’s much easier to see what different teams are planning. Whether it’s Augsburg, our local offices or our partners in Würzburg and Konstanz, coordinating shared content is simpler and smoother.
Kordiam: Are those other publications also using Kordiam?
Alexander: Yes. We’ve onboarded almost all of them already. The final one will join by the end of this year.
Kordiam: Can you share an example of how Kordiam supports day-to-day operations?
Alexander: Print production is a good example. We follow a Kordiam-based workflow that connects our local offices, production desks and both national and international editors. It cuts down on coordination overhead.
Kordiam: What surprised you the most when you started using Kordiam?
Alexander: Honestly, how far we’ve come. Before Kordiam, we used spreadsheets, Outlook calendars and various tools. Now everything is in one place. In Augsburg alone, we’ve onboarded over 200 people. After that, our other publications — Allgäuer Zeitung and Main-Post — followed. Südkurier is next.
