Kordiam’s Updated Slack Integration Just Got Better for Newsroom Teams

Keep assignments and Slack discussions connected with Kordiam’s updated Slack Integration. With the new custom field, every story, task, or publishing plan in Kordiam can launch its own dedicated thread. By connecting tasks in Kordiam directly to Slack threads, editors can keep all discussions tied to the right story, which reduces confusion and ensures decisions are visible to the whole team.

  • Add a Slack custom field to stories, tasks, or platforms - This field displays in the Story List and Tasks Page, as well as inside the Story Card for each assignment.
  • Start a new Slack thread from any story, task, or platform - No switching tabs or copying text. Just click the Slack icon and the conversation begins, with the right details already filled in.
  • Reopen and contribute to an existing thread - Once a thread is linked, the Slack icon changes to show it’s active. Clicking it takes you back to the same discussion.
  • Send updates from Kordiam to the right Slack channel - Changes to a story or task, such as edits or deadlines, can automatically be messaged to the linked channel so the right people stay informed.
Kordiam Slack integration update

Why this Slack Update Matters

  • Keeps every conversation anchored to the right story or task - No more lost context or duplicate updates.
  • Reduces time spent coordinating across platforms - Teams stay focused on work instead of chasing information.
  • Improves collaboration - Keeps collaboration focused by linking discussions in Slack directly to the relevant task in Kordiam, so only the people involved see the updates.

How to Activate the Integration

Admins can enable this feature by going to General Settings and reconnecting Slack. They then set up the Slack custom field, which users can add to any story, task, or platform entry to enable the integration.

If your team used a previous version of the Slack integration, you will need to reinstall it to support custom fields. Read more about how to activate this integration here
